ABOUT BIENVENIDOS FOOD BANK:
Bienvenidos Food Bank has served Northwest Denver as a small grassroots nonprofit food pantry for more than 47 years. Since the beginning of 2023, Bienvenidos has seen a 70%increase in clients served. North Denver is a rapidly changing neighborhood where gentrification, development, and a sharp influx of refugees are rapidly increasing the number of families who struggle financially. Our mission is that “no one will go hungry in our community.” We are deeply rooted in our community and continue to look for innovative ways to provide services to those in need.

POSITION SUMMARY:
We’re looking for a service-driven and motivated self-starter to lead operations, create systems, and develop additional programming as we increase offerings to support our rapidly growing client base. The Food Bank Manager is a combination of direct hands-on operational work and organizational management that will ensure the successful execution of all organizational programs. Additionally, this position, along with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, will work to improve, develop and grow our services.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Colorado Driver’s license with no driving restrictions and reliable transportation to work
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. and a willingness to carry and lift food and supplies as needed
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, email, text and voicemail accessibility)

Helpful skills and Experience:

  • Spanish speaking
  • Volunteer and/or other management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 1-3 years’ experience working for a nonprofit preferably a food pantry or similar nonprofit organization

 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

FOOD RESOURCING, INTAKE AND PANTRY:

  • Planning for all food programs including food resourcing through donations and purchases
  • Oversee deliveries, pick-ups and donations.
  • Assist in loading and unloading including driving box truck (no special license needed), using pallet jack and truck lift (training provided if needed)
  • Insures proper sorting, stocking, food safety and all TEFAP USDA and Food Bank of the Rockies storage requirements. (Must complete some on-line certification)
  • Maintain all needed paperwork, logs and reporting

DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP:

  • Execute successful food distributions ensuring that clients have a safe, equitable & respectful experience
  • Set up and take down on distribution days
  • Maintain stats for each distribution, # of clients, food intake and output
  • Support the client registration process, ensuring TEFAP requirements and information gathering
  • Oversee all equipment, vehicles and building maintenance

STAFF & VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT:

  • Supervision of program assistant(s), driver, and interns
  • Recruit and train volunteers needed to successfully execute all programs.
  • Develop volunteer
  • Supervise, support and schedule client volunteers, traditional volunteers & court ordered service
  • Organize group volunteer projects as needed for food drives, holiday and special events
  • Prepare tasks and projects for volunteers each week
  • Coordinate volunteer appreciation activities

DELIVERY, MOBILE and OTHER PROGRAMS:

  • Manage and plan for the grocery delivery program
  • Conduct site visits and intake for new clients as needed
  • Prepare and execute three monthly Mobile Pantries (outside and on-locations)
  • Work with schools, other nonprofits for collaborative food assistance
  • Visit sites, coordinate with social workers, case workers etc.

FOOD DRIVES, SPECIAL EVENTS AND HOLIDAY PROGRAMS:

  • Lead the coordination, planning and scheduling of food drives
  • Coordinate inventory and ordering for special holiday programs including Thanksgiving boxes and Holiday gift program
  • Set up and coordinate special distributions and events

OUTREACH:

  • Support efforts to reach more clients and connect with the community
  • Place signs, distribute flyers, posters and other information
  • Publicize our offerings, successes, and needs via social media
  • Maintain database of contacts, other programs, concentrated areas of need etc.

PROGRAM AND ORGANIZATIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT:

  • Assist the Executive Director and Board in modeling best practices, developing innovative ideas, and client-centered growth.

Work Environment: This position requires working inside and outside the food bank building, on-location at mobile sights and remotely for office work and planning. Occasional weekend hours.

Compensation/Benefits:
$50k-$60k/yr depending on experience
